Resin, wood, and feathers are not that hard to obtain. They will likely do comparable damage when skills are figure. There is a 14 damage difference between using a bow( that they will already own) and using a level 1 iron axe( which they will have to fight draugr to get the ore, get it to a smelter smelt it, get it to a forge, forge an axe, and return). You get 1.5% average damage increase per skill level. This means their bow skill is probably going to be higher than their axe skill. They will likely use it to shoot other things as well. Meanwhile the chances of them using a bow to kill deer for hides and food are pretty much 100%. If they use other weapons to hit creatures and only use the axe for chopping this skill is going to be very poor. You only level up the axe skill by hitting creatures with it. It is highly more likely that a newbie's bow skill is going to be significantly above their axe skill at this point. This makes them EXTREMELY effective for newbies to take one of these out. All from the safety of a place that can only be reached by archers. They do 33 damage per arrow plus 13 damage from piercing before you figure your weapon skills that is 46 damage compared to 55 from a fully upgraded bronze axe or 60 from a level 1 iron axe. You try killing one of these with an iron axe and troll armor and probably still using mostly forest food, you are going to get stomped into the mud by this thing.įire arrows are not garbage against Abominations. You are giving the impression that killing these is relatively easy for a newbie with an iron axe and that is 100% incorrect. My problem with all this is that it is MISLEADING. And at this stage your axe skill would be adding a significant amount of damage as well. The food you used was significantly better than what they would be using at this stage. The first time you didn't even use poison resist mead and got a whole 1.8 damage per tick. You use a black metal axe in the first part and iron axe in the second part. You are tanking it without using block or parry once( that i could see). The armor you are using at level 1 is almost twice as effective as troll armor at level 4. You make it look easy.īut you are in mountains and plains gear using better food than what they would have access to at this point with a much higher skill level( IE: I can block almost all of the damage). This gives a "new to the swamp person" the impression that all they have to do is get an iron axe get under the thing and whack away. So.All you are saying is "run to a crypt, get iron, make iron axe, hit abomination while standing under it. Getting under the beast gives you the best However, you stated in the titleĪrmour, stack up on stamina and make a run for the nearest crypt to get This is true for many creatures in the game. You can just run away from it to get into a crypt.
